Alex Bowen from West Columbia, South Carolina had been drinking vodka before his visit to Waffle House restaurant.
He waited for about 10 minutes for someone to arrive and take his order but no was attending to him as he found the staff sleeping.
A man sneaked into the kitchen of a Waffle House restaurant to cook his own meal in the early hours of Wednesday. Alex Bowen posted selfies of himself on Facebook as he made his own double Texas bacon cheese steak melt at the South Carolina Waffle House around 2 a.m. Thursday.
Alex Bowen said that he did not want to disturb them so he took his meal into his own hands. Bowen added that he was the only one to enter the restaurant while he was busy in the restaurant’s kitchen.
Bowen said in a post, “When I was done I cleaned the grill, collected my ill-gotten sandwich and rolled on out.”
Later, Bowen again visited the Waffle House to pay for his meal as he posted a selfie. After his port went popular, Waffle House stated that they apologized to Bowen personally for the inconvenience.
A spokesperson for the restaurant chain said the staff involved in the matter was suspended for a week. He also added, “For safety reasons, our customers should never have to go behind the counter. Rather they should get a quality experience delivered by friendly associates.”
Waffle House also stated that it was impressed with Bowen’s cooking skills. They are even planning to offer him a job.
