Supreme Court asks the Bihar police to take immediate custody of Shahabuddin, the former RJD leader. On Friday, Supreme Court cancelled the bail and the Patna High court decision of releasing the RJD leader was set aside. Justice PC Ghose, leading the bench, quashed the bail after pondering the facts of the murder case. The evidence are against Shahabuddin.
The bench clearly declared that Shahabuddin will be held back and taken into custody while being sent back to the Bhagalpur Jail. The State Government is taking several steps to comply with court orders and proceedings. The court asked to speed up the murder trial process against the politician who was once the gangster.
The High Court granted bail to Shahabuddin after he was found in connection with murdering eye-witness. Two of the brothers of eye-witness have been killed by Mohammad’s henchmen. Thus, he was sentenced and convicted for the lifetime. On Thursday, Prashant Bhushan, senior advocate, argued before the Supreme Court that the RJD leader had walked away from the jail at his own will. The jail authorities were actually terrified by Shahabuddin saying that the cancellation of bail would bring the death of last brother. The apex court had already asked the Government of Bihar why it did not challenge the release granted to the gangster-turned-politician.
Shahabuddin who had passed 10 years in the jail for multiple criminal cases will again go back to the jail as per the orders of Supreme Court. He murdered the person who had seen the murder of two brothers in the Siwan.
